Inexpensive
With the warmer weather here, we’re all migrating outside. If you are looking to add some simple, inexpensive play equipment for your kids, why not consider a tire swing?
Fun
For generations kids have loved to swing and twirl on tire swings. The great thing about tire swings is that they can hang from a tree or existing play equipment, depending on your needs. Just make sure the tire swing is mounted to something that is sturdy, durable, and can withstand the weight.
Simple
Since they can be made out of old used tires, they are inexpensive. This tire swing was made with long eye bolts, washers, and nuts (holes drilled first, of course). It is attached to a durable chain and connectors. That’s it. This swing is over five years old and is in great shape.
It requires no maintenance, however, make sure you empty it out after every rainfall so you don’t breed any mosquitoes!

Why discard old tires when they can become part of your stereo system or home furniture?
Confused?
The article attached to this link, “Turning Trash to Treasure: 100-Mile Tire Art” by By Patrick Langston of The Ottawa Citizen does a wonderful job of explaining the work of Bon Eco, a truly inspiring company that uses old tires and other items for a beautiful new purpose.
People are always looking for inspiring ideas and ways to use old tires and other discarded items for new purposes. The owners of Bon Eco are thinking outside the box, and definitely outside the confines of a round, old tire.
Thank you to the Tire Zoo blog reader who let us know of this wonderful idea. Do you have an idea you’d like to share? We’d love to hear from you.
