How do the rising cost of gas and groceries compare to decades ago?

While we have to take inflation into consideration, it’s always interesting to look back on the average prices and compare with today’s counterparts. In case you were wondering, we put together a few interesting comparisons.

Today- 2012

Average price of gallon of gas in MN: $3.60
Current cost of postage stamp: $.45
Minimum Wage About: $7.25
Gallon of Milk: $4.09
Dozen Eggs: $1.69

20 years ago – 1992

Average price of gallon of gas: $1.10
Cost of postage stamp: $.29
Minimum Wage About: $4.25
Gallon of Milk: $2.78
Dozen Eggs: $.93

40 years ago – 1972

Average price of gallon of gas: $.55
Cost of postage stamp: $.18
Minimum Wage About: $1.60
Gallon of Milk: $1.20
Dozen Eggs: $.52
